So, a new season has kicked off!

I would like to see Everton win some silverware (FA or Football League cup), and a top 6 finish will do me just fine, but of course a top 4 finish will be fantastic (and in current conditions in the Premier League - sensational).

* a far from perfect start for Moyes - does anyone think he could get the axe if things don't change within 5-10 games?
* first managerial casualty of the season is Di Canio... who predicted that one for this season's predictions?

Having watched the West Ham-Everton game, I can't help but say - what a steal Lakuku is! how on earth did Mourinho not put him into his plans! the Martinez regime is definitely changing Everton's style... leading the league with possession of ball. It would be nice if we could translate it into even more goals... though for now can't complain much.

How are you all doing than?

How is everyone happy with their teams first 3 matches of the season? happy/depressed/not sure
and how is everyone with what their team got up to in the transfer market this summer?

For me at least:
* Very concerned about Everton, not only because of the 3 draws in games that they should really be trying to win. We've failed to take our chances, we are not "clinical" as they say. Yes I know - I need to be patient, as Martinez is changing the system... but still - with all the criticism one might have had on Moyes - at least he's Everton was stable and punched above it weight (in performance and budget) year in, year out. I have a bad feeling that this year is going to be difficult... still I'm willing to be patient.
* In the end very happy about Martinez transfer dealings... it was always obvious Fellaini would leave, though a bit worried that we seem to be buying Wigan... one player at a time.

So... the season's over and in some style!
WBA were not going to let Sir Alex leave without making it a game to remember, 5-5!! and for the first and last time - Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson failed to win after having a 3 goal lead.

Wigan's defeat to Arsenal in midweek meant that there was only one thing left to decide- who would finish in Champions league spots (either automatic or via qualification). Arsenal just had to win and they did it... Spurs had to win to keep any hope and they did but it wasn't to be...

Anyway, as its the end of the season, how about a summary poll!

Poll #1914314 Season summary

Manager of the Season

Sir Alex Ferguson - another title, and by some margin - made smart shopping in summer
Andre Villas Boas - gave Chelsea and Arsenal a run for their money and I'm not sure everyone thought he would
Moyes - well... got the job he wanted
Brendan Rogers - I'm not sure what where the expectations but I think he's done a good job for 1st season
Steve Clark - WBA, 8th - isn't that a record for them?
Michael Laudrop - the Carling Cup and 9th (this is why Martinez isn't here)
Other - please provide detail in comments

Disappointing Manager of the Season

Roberto Mancini - that was no title defence
Alan Pardew - I seem to recall he also had a weak 2nd season with West Ham and he was then sacked
Harry Redknapp - no magic worked this time
Martin O'neill - we expected better from him
Other - please provide detail in comments

Purchase of the season

Van Persie - title winning goals
Sturridge - giving much needed firepower to Liverpool (especially as Suarez wasn't around all season)
Michu - gave Swansea their platform for success at the start of the season
Benteke - the reason Villa stayed up
Other - please provide detail in comments

See you all on August 18th for a season that promises to be interesting... Uncharted territory for Man UTD and Everton fans, The return of the Special one to Chelsea and more.
